Product description

This residential fan speed controller is designed for regulating exhaust fans or ceiling fans up to 3 A. It is an excellent choice for controlling ceiling fans, exhaust fans or bathroom ventilation fans.

The controller incorporates TRIAC technology designed for single-phase, voltage-controllable AC motors. You can set the minimum speed using the internal trimmer.

The precise control algorithm (microprocessor-based) ensures quiet motor operation, which, along with its modern design, distinguishes this variable speed controller. The enlclosure is suited for inset and surface mounting.

Additional specifications and description

Fan speed control made easy
This residential fan speed controller regulates the speed of the motor from maximum to minimum speed. The speed is adjusted manually via a rotary knob (potentiometer), whose first position is maximum speed and by turning it clockwise the revs of the fan are reduced towards the minimum speed setting. When the rotary knob is in the OFF position, the motor is stopped. The minimum speed can be set using the internal trimmer (Vmin) within the range 20 – 70 % of the supply voltage (Us). You can also disable the OFF position by connecting the mains voltage (230 VAC supply voltage) to the unregulated output, i.e. to L1 and N on the terminal block. In this case, the fan will start when supply voltage is available, whether the knob is in OFF position or not. If you want to keep the OFF position active, connect the supply voltage the standard way via terminals L and N.

Noiseless motor operation
Nobody likes being disturbed by the noise and vibrations of air conditioning devices, especially in residential environments. That is why it is important that the fan does not make an excessive noise. This new generation of controllers is the successor of the good old MTX series. However, a range of enhancements have been implemented here – the most important of which is the extra precise motor control thanks to featuring a microcontroller. This is how using the SDX series results in a motor operating very quietly, even at the lowest speed.

AC fans
The SDX series has been developed to control only AC fans via reducing the motor voltage. TRIAC technology is used here and the revs are slowed down via phase angle control. This makes the series suitable only for voltage controllable motors, i.e. AC fans, however, the humming and buzzing is brought down to minimum. Not sure if your fan is AC or EC? Better check its documentation or contact the manufacturer!

Beauty in simplicity
The most obvious new feature of the series is its novel design. The enclosure is simple and unadorned, thus making its design unambiguous and fitting any interior styles -
from the humblest classic to the extravagant future. Moreover, the device features both inset and surface mounting, and can be installed in any wall, irrespective of the material. The mounting holes of the SDX series fit perfectly a European wall box, if you have to use one. The enclosure is made of high-quality material - ASA plastic that is UV resistant and protects against impacts. The protection class is IP44 for inset mounting and IP54 for surface mounting. The electronics is well protected against ingress of dust, dirt and water from any angle in indoor applications. On top of that you can easily clean it with a damp towel. Control of additional devices via the unregulated output
If the supply voltage is connected to L and N, the unregulated output is active while the motor is enabled. The unregulated output provides a constant amount of power to control external devices. It is intended for use in applications where precise regulation is not required, such as a motor run indicator, external relays, solenoid valves, dampers and anything that is ideal for non-critical loads. When the motor (i.e. fan) stops, the connected damper closes or the indicator light stops. When the fan is active, the damper is open or the light is active. Because this output is either ON (230 Volt) or OFF (0 Volt), it is called ‘unregulated’ or ‘non-regulated’ output.

Pajungiau trijų amperų ventiliatorių veikia jau gerą pusmetį jokių problemų, išvada kad su šiais reguliatoriais nereikia skaičiuoti atsargos, puikiausiai veikia jei amperažas vienas prie vieno.
