Power supply 24 VDC | 40 W | IP20 | DIN rail mounting
Product description
A 24-volt switched-mode power supply (SMPS) is a type of electronic power supply that converts electrical energy from one voltage level to another. This supply module with the convenience of DIN rail mounting is a versatile solution for various applications across different industries. Whether you're managing automation systems (e.g. heating or ventilation systems), control panels, or electronic devices, this power supply is the key to your reliable and secure operation.
This module accepts an input voltage of 85–264 VAC / 50–60 Hz. The maximum load on this switched mode power supply is 40 Watts. The loads can be connected via the terminal block or via the RJ45 connector.
Because it is designed to be mounted on a DIN rail, integrating the power supply into your electrical cabinet will be simpler. The device is shielded from dust and dirt by the IP20 protection provided by the enclosure. In addition, the safety of your electrical installation is increased by the overload and overvoltage protection.
Comparing to linear power supplies, switching power supplies are more efficient, lighter, and more compact (due to their transformer-free design). Because of their high efficiency, they produce less heat and contribute to greater energy savings.

Protection
The DRPS8 features overvoltage and overload protection - two different electrical phenomena that can affect electronic devices and systems. "Hiccup mode" is the protective mechanism employed in this power supply module to mitigate the impact of these events. When an overvoltage or overload event is detected, the power supply momentarily shuts down and then automatically restarts after a brief period. This cycle repeats, resembling the pattern of a hiccup. Hiccup mode helps prevent immediate damage to the power supply and connected devices. It gives the system a chance to cool down or recover before attempting to resume normal operation. Once the fault is removed the supply will resume normal operation without having to cycle the power as you would do with many latching protection circuits.
Overvoltage: Overvoltage occurs when the voltage supplied to a device or circuit exceeds the specified or rated voltage. Overvoltage can result from power surges, lightning strikes, faulty voltage regulators or other electrical anomalies. It can lead to damage or malfunction of electronic components, as they may not be designed to handle higher voltages than their specifications.
Overload: Overload happens when a device or circuit draws more current than it is designed to handle. This can be caused by excessive load demand, short circuits or a malfunction within the device or circuit. Overload can lead to overheating of components, damage to the device or circuit and, in extreme cases, fire hazards.
Short circuit shutdown
If a short circuit occurs, the DRPS8 power supply takes immediate action by shutting down. This rapid response is crucial in preventing further damage until the fault is resolved. This ensures the longevity of both the power supply and connected devices.
