Single-phase motor transformer fan speed controller. The maximum current (combined) is 16 amps.

The rotary switch controls the AC fan speed, which ranges from low to high in 5 steps. There is also an OFF position on this rotary switch. The motor voltage is varied in 5 steps to control the motor speed. The perfect sinusoidal shape of the output voltage ensures quiet motor operation.

The enclosure provides IP54 protection against dirt, dust, and moisture ingress. It can be wall-mounted in indoor settings.

This 5-step speed controller is commonly used to control kitchen hood exhaust fans, ceiling fans, extraction fans, and other similar devices.

Transformer-based controller
Transformers are primarily used to change voltage levels in electrical systems, stepping up or stepping down the voltage as required. The control principle
This is a fan speed controller for single-phase motors. Via the built-in rotary switch, you can select one of the 5 speeds. Autotransformer technology is used to reduce the motor voltage and the fan speed in 5 steps. This speed controller is therefore only suitable for voltage controllable motors. If you are not sure whether your motor is voltage controllable, it is best to contact the motor manufacturer. Autotransformer technology is very reliable and robust. It generates a motor voltage with perfect sinusoidal shape. This results in exceptionally quiet motor operation and extended service life. A special impregnated coating reduces the electrical noise from the autotransformers.
 
Unregulated output
The extra, unregulated output (230 VAC) is active when the motor is enabled. Because this output is either ON (230 Volt) or OFF (0 Volt), it is called ‘unregulated output'. The maximum current of this output is 2 A. It is typically used to control an external run indicator, to open or close a damper, to switch an external relay, etc.
E.g. when the fan stops, the damper is closed. When the fan is active, the damper is open.
 
Rotary switch with built-in mechanical time delay
It is important to operate the rotary switch not too quickly. The switch has a built-in mechanical time delay. This is important to prevent internal sparking during shifting. It has a positive effect on the service life of the device. When the rotary switch is rotated from position faster than the built-in mechanical time delay, the device will remain internally at position 0 (OFF position).
