Transformer fan speed controller 13 A | Low to high
Product description
Transformer fan speed controller for single-phase motor. The maximum (combined) current is 13 amps.
The rotation speed of the AC fan is adjustable from low to high in 5 steps and can be selected by a rotary switch. This rotary switch has also an off position. The motor speed is regulated in 5 stages by changing the motor voltage. The output voltage with perfect sinusoidal shape ensures silent operation of the motor.
The housing provides IP54 protection against dirt, dust and moisture. It can be mounted on the wall indoors.
This 5-speed fan speed controller is often used to control the kitchen hood exhaust fan, ceiling fan, exhaust fan, etc.

Key benefits of transformer-based fan speed control
Transformer controllers eliminate electromagnetic excitation in motors, resulting in quieter operation. This makes them particularly suitable for noise-sensitive environments, where minimizing sound levels is crucial.
Transformer-based controllers typically offer simplified control. The step-based control mechanism with a rotary knob allows for easy adjustment of the fan speed. Thus the desired speed is set without complicated programming or configuration.
They are durable and have a long service life. Designed to handle high power loads, they ensure reliable performance over an extended period. This longevity contributes to cost saving by reducing the need for frequent replacements or repairs.
Besides being easy to handle, they are also a cost-effective solution, especially when compared to more complex speed control methods. Therefore they are the best choice for applications where advanced features are not necessary thanks to offering cost-effectiveness without compromising functionality.
Simplified fan speed control in five steps
These 5-step fan speed controllers are suitable for use in industrial kitchens, warehouses, and various industrial facilities. They are particularly appropriate for regulating extractor hoods or exhaust fans. These controllers provide a straightforward and user-friendly solution for controlling fan speed.
Their simplicity of use allows for precise control and efficient operation of the extractor hoods or exhaust fans, accommodating varying ventilation needs.
One notable advantage of STR-1 is that they do not require any kind of complicated configuration or programming, making them hassle-free and convenient to use. Users can simply connect the controller, adjust the speed using the provided steps or settings, and the fan will respond accordingly.
The rotary knob on the controller enclosure provides five on positions plus an off position, corresponding to different output voltage steps. However, while the series may have a total of six output voltage options, one of them (80 VAC) is not connected or utilized in the controller factory setup. It is possible to adjust the five steps by changing the internal wiring, but this modification is optional. Always exercise caution and follow the manufacturer's instructions if considering any modifications to the controller's internal wiring. Making changes without proper knowledge or expertise could result in malfunction or damage to the equipment.
Intended use
The series is designed specifically to control AC fans by reducing the motor voltage. AC fans operate using alternating current and convert it into mechanical power. That is why they are compatible only with voltage controllable motors. It is possible to connect multiple motors to the controller, provided that the current limit is not exceeded. In such cases, all connected motors will operate at the same speed. If you are uncertain about the type of motor you have, it is strongly recommended to carefully review the accompanying documentation or contact the motor manufacturer for further assistance.
Unregulated output
The fan speed controller features an additional unregulated output (230 VAC) that becomes active when the motor is enabled. This output is either ON (230 Volt) or OFF (0 Volt) and is therefore referred to as the "unregulated output." It has a maximum current rating of 2 A. This output is commonly utilized to control various external components, such as a run indicator, damper, relay, and more. For instance, when the fan is not running, the damper is closed, and when the fan is active, the damper opens.
Metal enclosure for indoor wall mounting
The primary purpose of an enclosure is to prevent the interior from being contaminated or affected by external debris or environmental factors. That is why the quality of our enclosures is so important to us. The STR-1 feature sheet steel enclosures resistant to external mechanical impact with paint finish. They are EN 62208 certified and their ingress protection rating is IP54 against dust and water.
