Fan speed controller | run indicator - 4 A
Product description
This is fan speed controller with run Indicator - 4 A, designed for single-phase motors providing easy regulation from low to high speed. The minimum speed is set via the internal trimmer.
The enslosure is suited for both inset (IP44) and surface (IP54) mounting and features an orange LED operating indicator.
This controller utilizes TRIAC technology for precise motor voltage regulation, whether in residential or commercial settings.

Why control fan speed
Fan speed control has numerous advantages: reduction of fan speed reduces the noise it emits and the power it consumes, it increases its reliability and service life.
Why choose the LTY
If you are looking for simplified manual fan speed regulation, the LTY is what you need! Via its rotary knob the fan speed can be set from minimum to maximum by turning it clockwise.
The series is intended for residential environments and is a perfect match for both classic and modern interior styles. What is more, it is suitable for both inset and wall mounting, i.e. it is fit for any kind of wall – from wooden panels, through gypsum board, to solid brick walls.
Despite being a simplified fan speed control solution, the series features a series of extra options listed below.
The OFF position
The series has an OFF position - turning the knob anticlockwise stops the motor. If necessary, the OFF position can be deactivated. In this case, the motor will run when the power supply is present. As standard, the supply voltage to the device is connected via terminals ↑ and N. To disable the OFF position, you need to connect the supply voltage via the terminals intended for the unregulated output, namely ↓ and N.
The unregulated output
The device features an extra unregulated output which is active when the motor is enabled. It is called so because it is either ON (230 Volt) or OFF (0 Volt).
If the supply voltage is connected to ↑ and N, the unregulated output is active while the motor is in operation. The unregulated output is used to control external devices such as dampers, relays, run indicators, etc. If you connect the supply voltage as standard and as advised by the relevant documentation, the unregulated output of your controller will be active when the motor is enabled. This means that when the fan stops, the connected external device will be disabled – the damper will be closed or the run indicator will go out. While the fan is working, the damper will remain open and the indication light will be on. The maximum current is 2 A.
Minimum speed trimmer
The LTY also features an internal trimmer (marked with MIN) for adjusting the minimum fan speed. The minimum motor voltage can be adjusted in order to avoid motor stalling at low speed via the minimum speed trimmer. It can be set within the range 20% - 70% of the supply voltage and it is one-time setting done when installing the device. No need to adjust it every now and then!
LED indicator
The LTY has an LED light which indicates the operation status. During normal motor operation, the orange LED is solid on.
The control technique
This controller uses TRIAC technology (phase-angle control) to adjust the motor voltage and to control the fan speed. TRIAC cuts parts of the incoming voltage to reduce the overall motor voltage. Thanks to this technology, the fan speed controller operates without excessive humming and buzzing.
Given the motor type, the motor might produce a little more noise at lower speeds. The minimum motor voltage can be adjusted to avoid motor stalling at low speed and optimize fan speed for your ventilation system. Reduced fan speed uses significantly less power than maximum operation and can often be employed, typically during unoccupied or low occupancy.
Use
The series is intended for AC motors and control is realised via reducing the motor voltage. AC fans run on an alternating current and convert alternating current into mechanical power. The voltage to the motor is reduced via phase-angle control. The series is suitable only for voltage controllable motors. You can connect several motors to the controller as long as the current limit is not exceeded. If you are not sure about your motor type, we strongly advise you to read carefully its accompanying documentation or contact the motor manufacturer.
Surface mounted
The enclosure of the LTY is made of high-quality ASA plastic in a nice cream colour (RAL9010). The material is UV resistant and protects the electronics against impacts, water splashes and dirt. It is suitable for surface mounting. The protection class is IP54. Cleaning it is very easy using only a damp cloth.
