5-step fan speed controller | TK monitoring | 5 A
Product description
5-steps transformer fan speed controller for single-phase motors equipped with thermal contact or TK. The (combined) maximum motor current is 5 A
The fan speed can be adjusted using the built-in rotary switch on the front cover. The TK monitoring function turns off the motor in case of overheating.
The fan speed is regulated in 5 stages by reducing the motor voltage. The output voltage with perfect sinusoidal shape ensures silent operation of the motor.
The housing can be mounted on the surface and provides IP54 protection against dirt, dust and moisture.

Why transformer-based fan speed controller
Transformer-based fan speed controllers offer a range of benefits, making them a desirable choice for speed control solutions. These controllers are known for their robustness, user-friendly nature, efficiency, and affordability. One significant advantage of using transformer-based control units is their ability to provide speed control without relying on electromagnetic excitation in motors. This feature makes them particularly suitable for environments where noise sensitivity is a concern. What you get by a transformer fan speed controller is: silent motor operation, simple control in steps and a controller with a long service life at a reasonable price!
5-step fan speed control
5-step fan speed controllers are extensively utilized in various industrial settings such as kitchens, warehouses, and other industrial environments. They serve as a convenient and straightforward means of controlling extractor hoods or exhaust fans. These controllers enable users to adjust the fan speed in five distinct steps, allowing for effective regulation of airflow.
One notable application of these controllers is in the management of extractor hoods, which are essential in removing smoke, fumes, and odours from kitchens or other areas where cooking takes place. Additionally, they find utility in controlling exhaust fans, which aid in ventilating enclosed spaces in industrial settings.
The operation of there controllers is hassle-free. Upon connection, they can be immediately utilized without the need for any configuration or programming. This plug-and-play functionality ensures that users can quickly integrate the controller into their systems and begin regulating the fan speed.
What is more, you can easily change the 5 output voltages by changing the internal wiring. The factory connected output voltages are 110, 140, 170, 190 and 230 VAC, however, the product version features 80 VAC, which can be connected by disconnecting any of the other 5 steps.
Motor speeds are selected via the built-in rotary switch. AC fan speed control made easy!
Application
The series is developed to control AC fans via reducing the motor voltage. AC fans run on an alternating current and convert alternating current into mechanical power. Therefore, they are suitable only for voltage controllable motors. Several motors can be connected to the controller as long as the current limit is not exceeded. In this case all motors will run at the same speed. If you are not sure about your motor type, we strongly advise you to read carefully its accompanying documentation or contact the motor manufacturer.
Thermal motor protection
This fan speed controller can monitor thermal motor contacts (TK or thermal contacts measure temperature in the motor windings). In case of motor overheating, the TK monitoring function will disable the motor to prevent motor damage. If the motor is not equipped with TK contacts, bridge both TK terminals of the STRS1 controller to simulate normal motor temperature.
Rotary switch with built-in mechanical time delay
It is important to operate the rotary switch not too quickly. The switch has a built-in mechanical time delay. This is important to prevent internal sparking during shifting. It has a positive effect on the service life of the device. When the rotary switch is rotated from position faster than the built-in mechanical time delay, the device will remain internally at position 0 (OFF position).
Solid enclosure
Make sure that the fan speed controller can cool sufficiently. Preferably install it in a cool place, best not in direct sunlight. The enclosure is designed and manufactured in-house. We use high-quality r-ABS VO (UL94) plastic. This material is flame extinguishing, very tough and offers good protection against impacts. It offers an IP54 protection against ingress dust and water. This fan speed controller can be installed on a wall or panel indoors.
