5-step fan speed controller | TK monitoring | 3,5 A
Product description
5-step transformer fan speed controller with thermal contacts or TK for single-phase motors. The maximum motor current (combined) is 3,5 A.
The fan speed can be adjusted using the rotary switch on the front cover. In the event of overheating, the TK monitoring function disables the motor.
The fan speed is controlled in five steps by lowering the motor voltage. The perfect sinusoidal shape of the output voltage ensures quiet motor operation.
The enclosure is surface mountable and provides IP54 protection against dirt, dust, and moisture ingress.

Additional specifications and description
Simple 5-step fan speed control
Transformer-based fan speed control is a straightforward solution for controlling ventilation in industrial environments. This 5-step fan speed controller provides a convenient way to regulate extractor hoods or exhaust fans without the need for complex configuration or programming. It offers a quick and efficient method for adjusting the fan speed according to the specific requirements of the environment.
By offering five distinct speed settings, the controller allows users to increase the fan speed gradually or set it to the desired level directly. This flexibility can be beneficial in industrial environments, warehouses, where precise control over ventilation is necessary.
Additionally, the fact that the controller can be used immediately upon connection makes it convenient for installation and use. This saves time and effort, allowing users to start utilizing the fan speed control right away.
What is more, you can easily change the 5 output voltages by changing the internal wiring. The factory connected output voltages are 110, 140, 170, 190 and 230 VAC, however, the product version features 80 VAC, which can be connected by disconnecting any of the other 5 steps.
Motor speeds are selected via the built-in rotary switch – simple and reliable!
Field of use
This speed controller is only suitable for voltage controllable motors. If you are not sure whether your motor is voltage controllable, it is best to contact the motor manufacturer. Autotransformer technology is very reliable and robust. It generates a motor voltage with perfect sinusoidal shape. This results in exceptionally quiet motor operation and extended service life. A special impregnated coating reduces the electrical noise from the autotransformers.
Unregulated output
The extra, unregulated output (230 VAC) is active when the motor is enabled. Because this output is either ON (230 Volt) or OFF (0 Volt), it is called ‘unregulated output'. The maximum current of this output is 2 A. It is typically used to control an external run-indicator, to open or close a damper, to switch an external relay, etc.
This means that when the connected motor stops working, the damper connected to the L1 and N terminals will close and the vice versa.
Thermal motor protection
This fan speed controller can monitor thermal motor contacts (TK or thermal contacts measure temperature in the motor windings). In case of motor overheating, the TK monitoring function will disable the motor to prevent motor damage. If the motor is not equipped with TK contacts, bridge both TK terminals of the STRS1 controller to simulate normal motor temperature.
Mounting location
Make sure that the fan speed controller can cool sufficiently. Preferably install it in a cool place, best not in direct sunlight.
Enclosure
The housing of this fan speed controller is designed and manufactured in-house using high-quality r-ABS VO (UL94) plastic, which possesses several desirable properties for this application. The flame-retardant nature of r-ABS VO plastic ensures an added level of safety, which is crucial in industrial environments where fire hazards may be present. Its toughness and impact resistance make it well-suited for protecting the internal components of the controller from accidental damage or rough handling.
The IP54 protection rating provided by the enclosure offers a good level of defense against both dust and water ingress. This protection is particularly important in industrial settings where airborne particles and moisture can pose risks to electronic devices. With this level of protection, the fan speed controller can operate reliably even in environments where dust and water exposure may occur.
