Product description

This transformer controller features a 0-10 V analogue input. It controls single-phase motors. The maximum motor current (combined) is 5 A. The power supply voltage is 230 volts.

The speed is controlled in five steps by lowering the motor voltage using autotransformer technology. The precise sinusoidal output voltage ensures silent motor running

An analogue control signal (0-10 V) or an external potentiometer is used to choose these 5 levels. In the event of overheating, the TK monitoring feature shuts the motor.

The IP54 plastic enclosure is surface mountable.

The technology

Transformer-based fan speed control offers several advantages, making it a popular choice in various applications. The technology has been used for a long time and has a proven track record of dependable performance. This reliability is crucial in applications where consistent fan speed regulation is required. Transformer-based control generates a smooth sinusoidal motor voltage, resulting in quiet and vibration-free motor operation. This is particularly important in environments where noise and vibrations need to be minimized, such as in residential or commercial spaces. The smooth and controlled voltage regulation provided by transformer-based control can contribute to extending the service life of the motor. Reduced voltage fluctuations and controlled starting and stopping mechanisms can help prevent wear and tear on the motor components. The basic design of transformer-based control is quite simple, leading to ease of installation and maintenance. The technology is well-understood by technicians and engineers, making it straightforward to integrate into various systems. This long history of use adds to its credibility.
Sentera’s STVS1 series offers a comprehensive solution for controlling and protecting fans and motors, particularly in applications where precise control, reliability, and durability are essential.

Control in steps
The STVS1 controller adjusts the motor voltage in steps, allowing for precise regulation of fan speed. This technology is reliable and results in smooth, quiet motor operation, and it extends the motor's service life.

0-10 V control signal
The controller can be controlled using a 0-10 V input signal. This control signal can be generated by sensors (possibly Sentera sensors) or external devices like potentiometers, SenteraWeb, a Master controller, or a third-party Building Management System (BMS). The control signal determines the fan's speed levels, and the controller's relays adjust fan speed accordingly. This type of control signal is commonly used for short distances and is suitable for various applications.

TK protection
The STVS1 controller features TK protection, which involves monitoring thermal motor contacts (TK) to prevent motor overheating. If the motor temperature becomes too high, the controller shuts down the motor to prevent damage. If the motor does not have TK contacts, the controller's TK terminals must be bridged to simulate normal motor temperature. If the motor overheats, its TK protection is triggered, stopping the motor and sending a signal to the controller. The controller requires a restart in this case.

Extra 12 VDC output
The controller has an additional 12 VDC output that indicates the status of thermal contacts. This output can be used for lamps or connected to a BMS to receive alerts about motor overheating or fan stoppage.

Auto reset after power failure
In the event of a power failure, the controller will automatically reset itself, and the motor will restart once the power is restored.

Non-regulated 230 VAC output

An unregulated 230 VAC output is active only when the motor is enabled. This output can be used to control external indicators or devices like dampers. If connected to a damper, it will open when the motor is running and close when the motor is deactivated.

LED indication
The controller features two LEDs: a green LED indicates normal operation, while a red LED signals problems, such as the activation of TK protection.

Solid housing

The controller's enclosure is made of high-quality r-ABS plastic, which is heat-resistant and protective. It's designed to safeguard internal electronics, resist environmental factors, and is manufactured with an emphasis on quality control in our own factory. The enclosure is suitable for surface mounting and offers an IP54 protection rating against dirt, dust, and moisture.
