5-step fan speed controller | 0-10 V controlled | 2,5 A
Product description
This transformer controller features a 0-10 V analogue input. It controls single-phase motors. The maximum motor current (combined) is 2.5 A. The power supply voltage is 230 volts.
The speed is controlled in five steps by lowering the motor voltage using autotransformer technology. The precise sinusoidal output voltage ensures silent motor running.
An analogue control signal (0-10 V) or an external potentiometer is used to choose these 5 steps.
In the event of overheating, the TK monitoring feature shuts the motor.
The plastic IP54 enclosure is surface mountable.

Additional specifications and description
Transformer based fan speed control
A transformer based controller regulates fan speed in steps via reducing the motor voltage. This is done using autotransformer technology which is very reliable and proven in time. The controller generates motor voltage with a perfect sinusoidal shape. This technology guarantees a quiet motor operation and an extended service life. A special impregnated coating reduces the electrical noise of the autotransformers. Thanks to this the fan motor operates quietly, which makes transformer controllers an appropriate control solution for noise sensitive environments.
0-10 V control signal
One of the available fan speed levels can be selected via the 0-10 V input signal (V/C terminal). For example, Sentera’s sensors generate such control signal. If there is no 0-10 V signal available, an external potentiometer can be connected to the STVS1 controller. The MTP-X10K-NA potentiometer can be connected to the 12 VDC supply of the STVS1 controller. The relays integrated in the STVS1 switch the 5 output voltages in steps based on the signal by the potentiometer.
In this case, input signal of 2 V activates speed level 1 (110 VAC to the motor), input signal 4 V activates speed level 2 (140 VAC to the motor) and so on.
TK protection
This fan speed controller can monitor thermal motor contacts (TK or thermal contacts measure temperature in the motor windings). In case of motor overheating, the TK monitoring function will disable the motor to prevent motor damage. If the motor is not equipped with TK contacts, the two TK terminals of the controller must be bridged to simulate normal motor temperature. If the TK protection has been activated the controller needs to be restarted in order to enable the motor.
Extra digital output
The STVS1 speed controller is equipped with an additional digital output that uses 12 VDC for operation. This output signals the operation of thermal contacts that protect the motor from overheating. It can be used to connect a lamp, which, depending on the connected terminals, will light up or go out. A more advanced solution would be to connect to the digital output of an automated building management system (BMS). Such a solution can notify of the electric motor overheating and a fan stop by sound and/or light alarms. This option of using a digital output is relevant for premises where work with hazardous air mixtures and gases is carried out.
Auto reset after power failure
In case of a power failure, this controller will automatically reset itself. When the power is restored, the motor will restart automatically.
Unregulated output
The extra, unregulated output (230 VAC) is active when the motor is enabled. It can be used to control an external operation indicator, a damper, etc.
This means that when the fan is deactivated, the dampers is closed or the indicator is off. When the fan is active, the damper is open and the indicator light is on.
LED indication
The STVS1 series features two LEDs on its enclosure – red and green. The green one indicates normal operation, while the red one signals of problems – e.g. activated TK protection.
Solid enclosure
The enclosure is made of high-quality r-ABS plastic. It is well-designed to protect the internal electronics of devices, offers good resistance to environmental factors, and is manufactured with an emphasis on quality control. This kind of enclosure is suitable for devices that need to operate reliably in various conditions while keeping their internal components safe. That is why, in order to guarantee the quality of our enclosures and to protect the electronics of our devices, Sentera produces the plastic enclosures in our own factory. This one is surface mountable and offers an IP54 protection against ingress of dirt, dust and moisture.
